Register Now for Ellen Harvey’s 100 Biennial Visitors Immortalized

Location: South Hall at Park Avenue Armory

Harvey makes fifteen-minute portraits for one hundred visitors, which are then hung on a grid as they are completed. In exchange for the artist’s services, visitors are asked to complete a questionnaire rating the success or failure of the rendering. Encouraging participants to reflect on notions of artistic skill as well as self-perception, Harvey presents portraiture as a formal interaction between artist and sitter. At the conclusion of the exhibition, the original portraits are documented and mailed to each participant.
