feminist art? where is everyone?

coco fuscoIn the New York Times today, there was an article about a Feminist Art event.  The article, which featured a picture of Coco Fusco and Lucy Lippard, explained how great it is that feminist art is taking center stage. But is it? Where were the women of color? Why was Coco Fusco put on the Front Page of the Arts Section when there were sparse numbers of women of color even there.  What does it mean to be a ‘feminist’?  Is this label still too closed off for women of color.  Read the article. I wasn’t there, but even the scant amount of information in the article makes me weary about this celebration.  It seems that Fusco had reason to be wearing fatigues.
