It is with deep sorrow that I bring you the news that Sekou Sundiata has passed. He was a talented poet, actor, artist, and activist, among many other things as well, I am sure. Anyone who has had the opportunity to meet him or to see one of his performances, has undoubtedly been changed. His passion for working with other people and exploring ideas creatively through sound, word, movement and image, is truly an inspiration. As the friend who informed me of his passing wrote: “This, ironically, is a humbling and saddening reminder to all of us to use our talents to the fullest while we’re alive and well. As long we have life, we’ve got nothing to lose, but all of the world to gain.”
